REASONS A REVISED NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY MAKES SENSE:
- Historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway becomes a multi-purpose community venue so that in addition to racing it can host other community events
- Improves quality of life for the community in two major ways:
- 1) Cuts the Speedway racing sounds in half
- 2) Increases available parking on the Fairgrounds campus
- Fewer days with race cars on the track - better racing; not more racing:
- Same 10-weekend race schedule with strict curfews and reduction of track testing days
- Prioritizes the very important rich tradition of LOCAL RACING
- This is a financially responsible partnership for Metro:
- Shifts millions in overdue renovations and maintenance costs away from general taxpayers to BMS and facility users
- BMS will be on the hook for daily operation cost; Metro will receive a percentage of all money generated on the property
- A renovated Fairgrounds Speedway would generate $200 million yearly in economic impact for the local community (Source: Oxford Economics)
